oh Caity, what a shame, your blog is one of my must-reads. You’re doing a great job on building a new one, and I guess a fresh start is good.
I’m just beginning to blog (also on Wordpress), so please share your recommendations for backing up?
Marcie, thank you. I have now installed a little plug in for Wordpress called Wordpress Database Backup. You can find it on the “plug ins” page (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/). It has a set up that automatically can back up and send a copy to you via email or save it to your computer.
I had it installed on one of the other blogs I manage - but not on my own! ARRRRRRGH!
Quick note - thought I’d let you know that I pulled down some cached content from the pre-disaster blog courtesy of Google/Yahoo. What I grabbed doesn’t go back too far, just to January 23 or so. However, I converted what I found to PDF form. If you want it, let me know and I’ll email it to you.
It may be possible to recover some more content by doing a search on the specific URL of some of the older pages. In fact, hmmm, if I do a Yahoo search on http://caityquilter.com, I see quite a number of pages with caches presumably available. I don’t know how long caches are kept around, though. Might be best to grab them sooner rather than later if you want them.
It isn’t optimum, I know, but it’s at least something.
MY SWEET SWEET TANYA - blessings upon you! Yes please! I tried to grab some but kept getting to a dead end. I would LOVE for you to email them to me if it’s not too much trouble!

She’s being very stoic about it, Gentle Readers. Nothing has been thrown and no loud swearing has happened.
